I completely grok why Genesis wants to stay away from fanfiction - Genesis the person in your system seems very bright and also almost painfully aloof -- not shy, not afraid to put his opinion out there, but afraid to get burned somehow?
Whereas Genesis the character in the games is a character I can't help wanting to tease eighteen ways from Sunday because from a meta level he's got "Nomura has had a mancrush on Gackt for at least a decade and finally found his excuse to write the rock star he fanboys into the series" written all over him. I have a ball writing chibiGen-preening microficlets where people make cracks about all the leather and the various sword-compensations and so forth, because to me the character was just ripe for the teasing. Nomura's been trying ever since Squall (and possibly ever since Cloud Mk 1) to get his rock hero into one of his games, and with Genesis he finally managed to do it. It's really hard for me to take the game-character seriously as a character rather than as a Nomura-style Mary Sue "fan insert even though it's written by the makers of canon".
...Whereas it's not at all hard to take your headmate seriously as a person, if you see the distinction? Genesis-your-headmate is someone I try to be careful with, because he seems like someone who's had bad experiences with humanity and I don't want to tease in the wrong way or hurt him. He's a real person with real feelings and I can sympathize with his wariness about people he doesn't know making judgements about a character who share his name and likeness.
I think fandom handles gamespace-you pretty much as the little black dress that goes with everything, because what we see of gamespace-you is so friendly and outgoing and giving that it's not that hard to imagine the abundance of affection spilling over into an abundance of love. (Of course, the fact that fandom doesn't make any allowances for types of love that don't equate to sex is That Other Rant again!)
Glad to hear The Wers' Sephiroth doesn't mind too much. :D (I have hundreds of pictures to sort through and get another 'Adventures Of...' post made One Of These Days(TM), too! Two cons and a zoo trip, omg sooo many pics, so much sorting and HTMLing...)
About the Jenova-head cat-toy? A couple threads up Turk was asking about that, and there are Plots In Motion. (I've got a 4-hour flood committee meeting tomorrow night after work wherein there will be nothing to do but crochet, for example. Just got to make sure I get everything I need packed on the bike before I leave in the morning!)
Your home cooking sounds really really tasty. ^_____^ I have a limited survival level when it comes to chiles, but I can handle some spicy stuff, and when you get complex-spicy and smells-good and tangy-stuff all going at once, YUM. (I'm going to have to look up more about Peruvian food to get a better clue of the comparisons you're talking about.)
Don't worry, I understand about the chocobos -- it helps to hear about the differences in temperament? It sounds like they're more analogous to "eating cranky overgrown geese that weigh three times what you do and get pushy about it" than "eating the friendly fluffy family pet." (I still don't get how people who raise rabbits for meat manage to kill and eat them, though. Bunny rabbits! fluffy harmless cuddleable never offended anybody... wibble. I'd guess it's got to be easier to turn the grumpy chicken that's pecked you every morning for a year into stew than it is with the bunny rabbits...)
