Which is one of the reasons I get my hackles up when someone tells me that I 'ought to write more in line with canon' or 'ought to enjoy following canon more than I do'
Oh no, they didn't! *sigh* I think those are the rabid twits that turns a lot of us off fandom to begin with - we would prefer to just preform mod duties in a multifandom environment and leave it at that.
Though we would love to have time to read fanfiction, we can't for many reasons - time being one of them (unless they are 100 words) and in Genesis's case, distaste for how fandom treats him. Hell, I think I am like the gayest Soldier there is in fandom. Who do I sleep with? Angeal, Genesis (yeah, right!), Cloud, Sephir, Kunsel, Reno, Tseng and sometimes two or three of them at once! WOW! But in reality for me, I am as straight as they come but secure enough with my own sexuality to tease the hell out of Sephir (who is as completely into guys) and Cloud (who is bisexual). But as you said, that is a whole 'nother rant! ^_^
also, I hope the Wers' Sephiroth doesn't take offense at my Sackiroth plushies?
Nah, Sephir's cool. You would think he is all tight-assed and stuff, but he is pretty easy-going sometimes. I think he secretly loves Sackiroth.
And so is the idea of Jenova's head dripping yarn guts and getting dragged around by my cat like an overgrown chewtoy
Damn! How do we get one of those for Kadaj's cat to carry around. All he has right now is a little pink purse.
What kind of flavor blends went with the skewers and the stews and stuff? (Where'd your family put the needle on the balance points between sweet/hot/tangy/savory/fragrant?)
Aw, we like it spicy! Most of the meats border on a nice warm heat that you don't notice until after you have swallowed the food to hot hot hot with some kind of tangy sauce to help cool it off. Bread helps too. ^_^ The soups and stews are I guess what you would think of as savory or fragrant.
I guess if I had to pick spices that would be comparable, possibly cumin and cayenne. And chilies, definitely chilies. Stuff like that.
:wibble: and I hope chocobos weren't on the eating-menu?
Hate to break this to you, but the chocobos where I am from aren't really the cute, fluffy, lovable birds that fandom portrays them as. Wild ones are actually very vicious and can kill a man if they feel threatened. Tame ones are used either in sport like the races or as armored units, but in both cases, we don't really get attached to them. Many of them can be unpredictable with a mean temperament. They have to be specially trained by handlers for years before they can even be ridden or they will hurt you. Kicking injuries like broken bones (or those that can sometimes death) and lacerations from the claw on the chocobos feet are common with trainers, chocobo farmers, jockeys and anyone else that may have to work with the nasty beasts.
Most of the Soliders I know were not fond of them.
Yes, we do use them for food. Those chocobos are raised on farms for that purpose. Sorry!!
