Re: Hey, I'm a card-carrying member of the "Over-thinkers Club," too, so hey.
I think he's more calculating than Loz is -- and the chair-and-books-stack he came up with in order to get into the freezer while he couldn't fly was quite a work of engineering XD -- but he's definitely Loz-ish in the tendency to derive quite a bit of pleasure from physical things, too. ^__^
And the writing literacy bit... the answer to that depends entirely on which language you think is 'standard' in the Final Fantasy-verse. I mean, I'm speaking-fluent enough in Japanese to get around there. But I can read a lot more kanji than I can write, though I could type them even if I can't remember all the strokes out of my head when faced with a blank piece of paper. Likewise, even in English people can recognize words they don't know how to spell when given the blank piece of paper. But there's a much bigger gap between reading-literate and writing-literate in a kanji-based language than in an alphabet-based language, because there's so many more characters to know. And I haven't figured out which way I think it works there. ^^;;; I don't assume they automatically speak either Japanese or English -- my mental construct of the world has always involved some other language that's been translated into both, so to speak, and I don't know which language it's more similar to?
And the pronouns drove me nuts the whole time I was writing, too! I honestly can't figure which way I'd answer the question of 'which gender', because Moon doesn't technically have the equipment for either... birds just have one opening, and seraphs are generally regarded as sexless, so either way, Moon's kind of ungenderable...
