chibirisuchan ([info]chibirisuchan) wrote,
I was trying to write something a lot more tame originally! But Sephiroth looked at me and said "My mother WAS a Great Old One, you know," and the Cthulhu connections took over like mad.

Unspeakable mind-shattering monsters rising out of the deep and doing unimaginable things to the scuttling human vermin that can't withstand the otherness... and in this case he dragged up the mind-warping too-much-for-mere-mortal-minds-to-withstand-ness of the Lifestream to help out with the Lovecraftian insanity. XD

I'm really not much for writing anything resembling a canonlike Tifa; the impression I have of her is someone without a whole lot of personality beyond naggging people, punching things, and failing to tell Cloud significant things that could have changed his entire perception of the world before Sephiroth got to torture him with it. And given that most of what I know is from Advent Children and from reading game scripts, the Tifa moments that are the most vivid in my head are the AC ones. Which means that the person I saw her having the most significant interaction with was actually Loz.

Plus the various compilation things have rewritten and rewritten "who knew what when and said what to whom on what occasions" so many times that I don't think I could really track down what Tifa did and didn't say to Cloud at brain-alteringly significant points of the revised-and-revised-and-revised canon even if I did have any idea what to do with her... ^^;;;;

My answer to the baby's name is going to be equally unsatisfying, I think. I don't know and I didn't even want to think about it. Aeris was the last Cetra; in a universe where Aeris didn't die, she'd have a biological clock ticking a loooot louder than most people's. She'd be much more aware than most people of the fact that she needed to pass on her bloodline.

The baby was there to provide the excuse for them to run from Hojo, to provide a framework for the story (I had to have a starting point, an ending point, and intervening moments to hang lots of mental images on), and to let Aeris both accomplish the genetic drive to preserve her race and tie herself further into the life-continuation that the Lifestream and the Cetra were all about. But the baby itself wasn't even remotely interesting to me for the purposes of the story. Sorry if that's a letdown... ^^;;;
